  1. isn’t that like saying: if all the money that was spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars would have been spent on cultural, educational and health projects in those countries, than they countries would be thriving and our best friends.

    Hang on!? Damn, why didn’t we think of that!

    • I watched an interesting documentary the other day (can’t for the life of me remember the title) Anyway, it presented perspectives of support for the Taliban in Afghanistan. Bottom line – the Taliban excel at highly organized grass-root relief efforts.Despite oppression, iron fist justice, and bat shit objectives – in many areas they’re the face of salvation (all they ask in return – a steady stream of fighters)

      Would have, should have, could have apply to every social, economic, religious and environmental blight. Sigh.

  2. Down here in South Africa, solar-powered geysers are government funded for previously advantaged communities. In fact, I think their installation may be mandatory for new houses?
    But I’m sure it’ll be a long while before we see anything such as the what’s in the pic. and we have sunshine pretty much every day of the year.
