Want To Photograph a Snowflake?

We’ve all seen photographs of snowflakes. In my mind, taken by professionals with elaborate equipment – not so fast. All it takes is a dash of ingenuity and Macro Lens. No camera, nothing but a cell phone? Order one – little “clip on” phone lens start online for under $5, I like the “rubber band” version (linked below) for $15.

The photograph below demonstrates the ingenuity factor. In a nutshell (taken from the earthsky link above the photo) this photographer didn’t even go outside. He chilled a dark coloured fleece scarf, opened a window, placed cold scarf on the sill, and started snapping.

Who knew? I’m off to order a rubber band lens…….
