A few minutes ago these words arrived as a text message from my daughter. Found on Twitter, she wasn’t sure of author or origin.

“How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion – mandatory 48 hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he is about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, an ultrasound wand us his ass (just because). Lets close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles , take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.

It makes more sense to do this with men and guns, than women and health care. Right? I mean, no woman having an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds. Right?”

  1. This has been around for a good while now, but that doesn’t make it any less valid with time. Mind you, in the pursuit of balance, I’d point out that one of the San Brenardino women was a woman

    • True, a woman reportedly was involved.(the mother of a 6 month old baby ) we’ll never be able to know her mind, but as a woman and mother, I have to question her willingness to participate. Just saying 🙂

      • Mothers are taking their children to Syria from the UK right now to join Daesh… Just saying And killing people is a pretty good indicator of particiaption
In the UK we’ve had Myra Hindley and Rose West, to name just two, who were active and willing participants in extreme child abuse and murder.
        Just saying.

      • Apparently in Afghanistan, ground troops were told to save one bullet for themselves, since if they were captured the Afghani women would torture them to death over periods of days.

  2. Perhaps we can get the pro-life lobby to shift their attention to the abortion of gun ownership. Put them in the same room with the NRA and stand back to watch two problems sorting themselves out.

  3. A very powerful point, and as far as nobody’s reading me trying to suggest ‘balance’ by mentioning the few women who commit atrocious crimes, it needs to be said that OVERWHELMINGLY it’s men who do these things – most often with guns. The bottom line is this: there is no issue – none whatsoever – that women get to decide, involving any aspect of men’s lives.

  4. Men / Women … flip sides of the one coin. So why not reverse traditional roles—let the men have the abortions while the women run around killing everyone?

The alternative is to get everyone to actually think—and that ain’t ever gonna happen.
