On February 15th, just over two months ago, Christopher Paul Hasson, a U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant and white supremacist was arrested after federal investigators uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in his Maryland home. His plan was, in his words … “I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on […]

Taylor Swift Me
Taylor Swift has a secret power, the ability to fill a dance floor with wedding guests. Obscure as it may be, that’s no small feat. Her 2014 hit “Shake It Off” joins Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline in the wedding DJ hall of fame. Don’t argue with me, I speak from experience – it’s a fact.
Today Taylor Swift released her song “Me”, I doubt she realizes how it will impact the wedding world. Mark my words – within a few weeks “Me” will serenade newlyweds on their entrance to ballroom head tables, solidify itself as first dance tune of choice, fill dance floors and elicit boisterous drunken sing-a-longs.
Kudos Taylor, weddings thank you for injecting fresh air into the DJ hall of fame.
197 Myths, Ice Melt And Conservative Apathy
Remember when wannabe president Trump tweeted –
How about Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe, Republican chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, tossing a snowball in February 2015?
“God is still up there, and He promised to maintain the seasons and that cold and heat would never cease as long as the earth remains.”
“The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous,” he said.
Inhofe mocked Obama for saying climate change was a greater threat to Americans than terrorism. He spewed lists of terrorist atrocities and enemy nations, accusing the Obama administration of trivializing national security threats in favour of climate propaganda. Inhofe accused liberal news media of using climate propaganda to create fear.
Trump blames China, Inhofe calls on God – how does a reasonable person crack these nuts? Visual aides?

Stunning video documentation?
Gone are the days when skepticism demanded verifiable truth. Collective denial is a modern reality perpetuated by numskulls with money, power and political agendas oblivious to ramifications of climate apathy. That said, I stumbled upon a list of 197 climate myths at Skeptical Science. I challenge anyone to find a more complete, user friendly resource –

Biblical Anti-Vaxxer Jibber-Jabber
Meet anti-vaxxer extraordinaire Brittney Kara. According to her Amazon bio, Brittney is a master NLP practitioner (Neuro Linguistic Programming) hypnotherapist, nutrition coach, author and mother. https://www.amazon.com/Brittney-Kara/e/B00EJS3FEM
Anti-vaxxer jibber-jabber has Brittney to thank for a naturopathic epiphany of Biblical proportion – Vaccines are bad because God never mentioned them in the Bible. Seems Brittney decided to Google vaccines in the Bible, when no reference was found she went public. Watch a short video from https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNxt-Npm5rNEJ4ySRsilF1A
Dear America, Please Watch This Video
I’ll reblog this video to the end of time or the day America listens, whichever comes first.
Dear America,
Despite several attempts to reach you, previous requests to watch a clip from The Newsroom remain unanswered. Understandably there’s a lot on your mind. I know how difficult it is to pull yourselves away from Trump tweets, partisan jibber-jabber, criminal investigations and threat of government shut down if your leader doesn’t get his wall. That said, surely you can spare six minutes to watch this video. If America matters to you, watch to remember what you once cared about…..
clouded
Peter had me at murmuration, his perspective sealed the deal.
The photo is a murmuration of Starlings surrounding the Statue of Liberty but it made me think about the way in which the values that made this country what it has become have themselves been clouded and obscured.
Society seems no longer to care about values. I blame that on the movement to deny any absolute values that began with questioning religion and religious morality. Once we began (as a society) to question whether “right” existed, or whether “wrong” was something that could be applied universally it became easy to say that “no one” was really altruistic, that ethical matters only really applied in… well… maybe they don’t… oh, heck, lets’ throw ethics out anyway, who needs to be judged…. You see how it all goes pear shaped once you start questioning.
I wonder, can you question things and still uphold some set of values? Speed limits for example —…

Chemically Enhanced Aurora
On April 5 NASA scientists launched sounding rocket mission AZURE (Auroral Zone Upwelling Rocket Experiment) from Norway’s Andoya Space Center. Twin rockets deployed chemical tracers capable of allowing researchers to track the flow of neutral and charged particles during an active geomagnetic storm. Emergency service switchboards were inundated with UFO sighting hysteria – seems no one bothered to alert residents of AZURE’s chemical meddling.
Lights over Lapland webcam operator Chad Blakely captured the first chemical puffs. Video below from Adrien Mauduit documents the spectacle.
Who’s Killing the World?
Why is it that we humans are in such a big hurry to place blame. When things aren’t just the way we want them it seems the most logical thing in the world to blame someone else for whatever has happened. From our earliest days as a child when Mom or Dad find us with mud all over our clothes, or when we’ve tried to drown the neighbor’s cat — it seems the easiest, most natural thing to say, “It’s Johnny’s fault” or “It’s Sarah’s fault” or it’s the bogeyman’s fault!
In recent years I’ve heard that “Millennials are killing…” and then the noun of the hour is inserted as appropriate to the immediate circumstance. Whatever is wrong is somehow the fault of the generation coming up. When I was younger the faults of the world have been the responsibility of:
- Gen X
- Gen Y
- Hippies
- Rock & Roll
- Baby…
